I'm sure it's purest coincidence that it was the train conductor I immediately thought was cute (she clearly had a sense of humor) who left me a heart on my ticket.
I think I might have had a ♪, too, now that you mention it. That's pretty cool, but this was delightfully apropos. (Especially because it ended up next to my two favorite train stations.)
I was delighted to learn (from a chatty train conductor, years ago) that they're allowed to use whatever clipper or stamper they like as long as it's not offensive, and some conductors have a collection so they can use one that suits their mood. I love that lots of people who work on trains are train geeks. I should introduce you to my friend Rob, some time. He's a lovely, High Anglican, Quaker-meeting-attending, gay, punk train driver and is a proper train geek.
From that description, I agree that you should introduce me to your friend Rob sometime. :)
I'd love to be a train driver/conductor myself, but I think they're not good jobs for blind people.
I too am delighted at the idea of the conductors being able to choose what they want -- though it amazes me then that so many of them have such boring clippers or stampers or just scribble on your ticket with a pen! -- and love the idea of them being able to express their moods this way.
