Have I mentioned that I love the BBC? (This sort of reminded me of the time my roommate sent an e-mail for her fiancé to her dad instead--it may be the only time I've ever actually heard her swear. She called her dad and told him not to read it.)

In local news, I learned today that graham crackers were developed to keep kids from masturbating.

The good news about my Gothic lit class is that we're finally done with The Monk. The bad news is that I have to start Radcliffe's The Italian now, and even our professor admitted that it's a lot slower.
Sarah and I have to make webpages for our CSci class. They need a textured background, an animated .gif, and five bits of computer history.

Between the two of us, we currently have one background (we can't figure out why Sarah's doesn't work), one animated .gif, and five bits of computer history (or maybe only four). Besides my clever gif (which I got Darren to make because he loves me and is a graphic wizard (I would've done it myself, though, if I knew how)), Sarah has some great computer history:
  • Bill Gates came up with the most widely used OS today, Windows, as it is known, is messy, insecure, and propriatery.
  • [about Linus Torvalds] He, like, was a college student when he wrote the program. He is a smart dude. Also, he is Finnish, where they have a famously open society, including socialized health care. (I like this one best. In all fairness, there is supposed to be "us" after that "like," but it's funnier this way.)
  • Because of the cold weather in Finland, perhaps, the Linux mascot is a penguin.
Oh yes, we are masters of the web--webmistresses, even, right [livejournal.com profile] parakleta?

We are doing our best to have fun with our lame, constraining, no-fun homework.
