I got iced tea and she got lemonade. A cheeseburger for me and a bacon cheeseburger for her. The only decision to be made is whether we get cheese curds or onion rings ... and we're happy even if we get the wrong one, like the time we went to all the work of deciding that we wanted cheese curds and Ali said "onion rings" instead. We still ate them. A couple of summers ago, when we were around and did this all the time, Joyce and Lanelle didn't even have to ask us any more when they saw us walk in. But now we've gone away to college, Lanelle doesn't work there anymore, and Joyce has a lot more grey hair than I remember.

At some point during our meal I said, "Do you realize that we just went from talking about nakedness to rating the cartoons on Cartoon Network in about two seconds?"

We decided that her kids will be named Agadora Spartacus and Basin Portefoy. Base and Dora. And their last name will have to be Octavius, which would make her Mrs. Lawrence Thomas Octavius (after she convinces her boyfriend to change his name--we agree that "Base Cook" just isn't good at all--oh, and after she agrees to marry him). She told me she was going to call Larry that night, and tell him this and blame it on me. Sure. I didn't think of any of those names! Well, except Basin. And Octavius. It's the best set of future-children's names I've heard since [livejournal.com profile] star_eyed_lady's Zenobia and Melchizedek.
