(1) Early in the movie, Toula is sitting on a plastic-covered sofa between her mom and dad, the epitome of uninteresting. One of my parents laughs and says, "That'll be you, Holly." I vow to get married before I'll let that happen.
(2) My mom promises not to be like Ian's parents "when I bring my guy around." I smile quietly.
(3) When Ian asks Toula's dad for permission to date his daughter, my mom suggested that this hypothetical guy of mine should ask my dad--and then immediately burst out laughing.
"She's laughing, Dad," I commented.
"Yeah, I don't get it," he answered.
"I can't even imagine!" Mom said. I rarely hear her laugh like that.
