I wouldn't actually mind -- it means she won't have made it too weak even by her standards, which is what she did the time she managed to make coffee in a cafetiere without any of the coffee sinking to the bottom -- except that she poured away Andrew's perfectly good (but cold) coffee to do it.
And the whole reason we got her instant coffee is so the three other people in this house who like caffeine can use the cafetiere (handily, ours makes three cups of coffee!).
I saw her doing this again today and said she just needed to pour boiling water on it, and she told me she liked doing it this way. There's no real argument to be made with that, I guess!
When my brother visited us in Italy years ago he tried to make coffee by putting water in the bottom part of the "moka" then adding ground coffee and stirring it, screwing it all back together - with the part where you put the coffee obviously empty, then putting it onto the gas hob. He then proceeded to drink the mixture which bubbled through and say that he thought Italian coffee was not all it was cracked up to be......
