Not for the first time, I find myself wishing the world could ever be run as efficiently and effectively as the conspiracy theorists believe it to already be.
Yeah, I think anything that involves some huge government conspiracy or a massive cover-up going on for decades or a small group exerting huge influence on how everything is run, just would necessitate so much more coordination, collusion and competence than these entities tend to have in the real world. No leaks? No disgruntled people who got out? No honest mistakes? No resistance from the larger society that is apparently having this foisted on it? Ha. I just cannot believe such a thing would be possible.
Disneyland seems too conformist and too gender-essentialist for me, but I can see your point as it does seem very slick and streamlined. :)
Actually, one of the good things about the Disney parks is that employees of all genders have to play characters of all genders -- Minnie Mouse is quite possibly a bloke and Captain Hook a woman, under the mask.
I think I know what this is about & you have my sympathy. It's a nasty smear based on several false assumptions but plausible enough if you don't look close or know anyone involved :-(
It's just bizarre, to be so committed to such odd ideas. Andrew's upset by it but I can't help but think it's funny in a way: of course the overhaul of all society that she believes is happening couldn't be further from the truth and isn't anything I want or would aid and abet...but the competence and influence she presumes must exist do sound like they'd make my life a lot easier. ;)
Yeah, his Someone Is Wrong on the Internet circuits had gone into overdrive (and they're pretty fierce anyway!) because it was Someone Is Wrong About My Wife. I felt bad for him but also I do find it much easier to let people be wrong, especially one who seemed so ferociously committed to confirming her biases.
And there can be more gossip about this if I see you later, but I really am trying to keep it off the internet because this is all way above my pay grade.
Thanks, though I wouldn't have minded if you hadn't, I just thought I'd explain why I can't be bothered to figure out what if anything more I want to be saying about this right now. It is actually too tedious to be worth that effort, whereas in person I can bitch more freely. ;)
