D: "Oh no, I lost my pants!"
Me: "You keep losing your pants!"
D: "I don't know why, I don't know what game mechanic causes me to take off my pants..."
#
I'm getting constant updates on the state of his Lego-stormtrooper disguise: first pants and helmet, then the pants disappeared, then the whole suit, now no pants again!
#
D: "Oh good I've got some pants again."
Me: "Are you stealing them from dead stormtroopers???"
D: "Of course! How else do you think I'd be getting them?"
Me: "Well we don't know how you're losing them, so why would there be an explanation for how you're getting them!"
#
D: "I do have pants! I just don't have stormtrooper pants. It's not like I'm going around with no pants in this game for 7-year-olds!"
Me: "I think 7-year-olds are the perfect audience for thinking no-pants is great actually."
D: "You make a compelling point."

Now D is saying "Aw yeah, shooting up your server room! Hope you haven't tested your backups lately! Where is this in your ISO risk assessment??"

Date: 2024-08-26 05:27 pm (UTC)I am reminded of the many years of reiterating "you have to at least wear pants" to the young people in this household.
(though I meant underpants rather than trousers, and I suddenly realise the lego pants are probably trousers)

Probably. :) Yeah, I did notice D started saying "pants" when he normally wouldn't, and I don't know if it was as an accommodation to me or ambiguity about what's going on Lego figures' legs, the increasing prevalence of "pants" to mean trousers that's slowly spreading in Manchester particularly... Or as a reference to the "Honey where are my pants" thing mentioned below!
Or just because it's a funnier sounding word (I feel, anyway).

Date: 2024-08-26 08:58 pm (UTC)"Honey, Where Are My Pants?" did get a reference in our conversation eventually.
But I also wouldn't be surprised if this kept happening because D's approach to new games is to just jump in and figure out what buttons do etc. by trying them all. :)
You can tell what kind of IT D has worked in from the server room comment, I feel. ;)
