[346/365] Sprouty Claus

cosmolinguistD has been earworming himself with "Sprouty Claus" lately, to the point where he had to play the video the other night to introduce MB to it.
Fans of Radio 1 that we are (we've started texting each other about it when we're at work: today he told me " 'You know it's Christmas when you get the Bubes out' - Charlie Hedges talking about Michael Bublé" and "Oh wow Vick Hope on Whamageddon - 'Grow up it's 2023'" yay! ), D and I knew that "Sprouty Claus" is a song for a children's cartoon, called Supertato (though I was delighted to hear someone text in this morning to say they were calling someone named Sue "Sue Potato" because that's what I thought the name of this show was for a while, because people don't say their r's here!), sung by irony-poisoned Radio 1 morning DJ Greg James.
He insists he is embarrassed by his performance, saying that since he was tricked into it by thinking he was just going to record a "cameo" for the cartoon, voice-acting some bit part, and only when he arrived did they tell him he was going to be singing a song and I guess the composer was there and he was worried about disappointing all these nice people and that's the only reason he actually tried.
He did seem to be audibly cringing while he listened to to the song live on his show last week. But of course since then he's been met with messages of encouragement and support and this morning announced that he has come around and now can be happy about it despite there being a record of something where he actually dared to try. Hopefully the magical lesson he has learned this Christmas is that you don't have to wrap everything in seventeen layers of detachment and cool and the really cool thing is making an effort.
Anyway, D has been humming "Sprouty Claus" enough that MB has started calling the dog Pouty Paws.
