My first vacation in the new job started at the end of my work day today.

My manager called me at noon like "four hours until freedom!" He sounded really excited for me, bless him.

He was also just so incredibly nice, talking like he won't see me for months or I'm off to Antarctica or something: "I'm so pleased with your work, you've really hit the ground running in this job..." Something like that. My brain was too addled to form memories. But it was very sweet.
