I do really want to talk about the interviews, every day I've thought that and both days so far I've been too tired. Maybe I'll manage it over the weekend but for now here are some words I've already written about my evening.
Sadly, I've had to reset the counter on the 'days since a car nearly hit me' sign to 0 again.
This car ran a red light and only didn't hit us because it swerved out of the way.
My favorite part was a bunch of people standing outside a bar across the road saw this and started screaming immediately. "Did you see that?" "They almost hit that blind guy!" "I'm glad you're okay! My heart was pounding!"
The driver pulled over, and these yelling people also yelled that she looked very apologetic. My second-favorite part was
mother_bones stomping down the sidewalk with her rollator, saying "I do not forgive."
diffrentcolours got a photo of her license plate but
mother_bones and I didn't want to call the cops on a woman of color.
If it'd been a white guy, we would've. But no, this won't achieve anything.
I wish there was something else people could do in this situation. The cops are wholly inadequate. I hope she really was sorry (and not just scared because she saw
diffrentcolours take the photo), I hope it really does change her behavior in future. That's all I want. Just don't run red lights again.
