[355/365] henchpersons

rosamicula used to send Andrew and I a card this time of year. She asked for my address the other day and this year's card just arrived. I think she knows less about my living situation now so I think she didn't have their names of the people I live with to add to the card. So it's addressed "To Erik and henchpersons."

I love that. I struggle sometimes to explain how I live with my partner and his other partner. I might just start saying "henchpersons." (mother_bones said she likes the idea of being a henchperson. "After all it's a job that comes with the best benefit; petting Gary.")

So the henchpersons went grocery shopping while I was at work, because they are heroes. I was asked questions and randomly updated by text as they went through the Big Tesco.

One of the texts was "Oh God, Lynx have a new deodorant scent "Leather and Cookies" and I hate myself for thinking that sounds quite nice actually." I thought that too! I said I would totally try it. So diffrentcolours got it for me, saying it's an essential part of my British teenage boy experience. It doesn't smell like either of those things but I don't hate it!

We also bought the Leather and Cookies deodorant because we have a standing policy of always buying the most ridiculous flavour/scent available.

Heh, sounds like how I used to pick beers when I went to pubs: which has the silliest name.

It's such a delightful combination of words! And I could totally see it being a delightful combination of smells too, if anything ever smelled like those two things.

I used to buy whatever random deodorant the pound shop near me had and when I switched to "men's" I know it was Lynx at least a couple of times. But "I bought roll-on deodorants basically at random" definitely lacks the fun of "I intentionally brought this spray into my house because of its ludicrous smell." :)

I do actually like some of the Lynx smells! Not in the quantity you usually get them from random teenagers, but they're not inherently bad. Maybe I really am a teenage boy after all.

I agree that some of them are nice smells! I use what I describe as hippy bullshit deodorant nowadays (coconut oil with, like, baking soda or something in it?) but I have no problem with good smells!

Thanks for the laughs. Leather and cookies - I'll bet if it did smell like those things, Gary would want to snuffle armpits.

I'm keeping the idea of henchpersons in my back pocket, because that sounds like it will be immensely useful for descriptions in the future.

Also, I'm frequently amused by the titles that body care products get up to so they can assure the men that they're not losing out on manliness by purchasing and using them. "Leather and Cookies" is a good one.
