I love this article not so much for what it's ostensibly about (a silly video to encourage New Zealanders to get vaccinated, something 94% of them have already done) but for the news-for-parrots way it's written for a Minnesotan audience just because the guy in the video is from St. Cloud.

On closer inspection, viewers watching the song's video see he’s wearing what looks suspiciously like a pair of Vikings zebra-print Zubaz pants...

The hockey hair is part of Rindelaub’s Minnesota heritage. He grew up in St. Cloud, then went to Gustavus Adolphus for his Bachelor of Science, before heading east for his doctorate.

I love that it just says "heading east" after that, like who cares, it could be any school, prestigious or not, all that matters is it's east of the Mississippi.

Rindelaub’s blunt explanations, using terms such as “face hole,” and frankly the mullet have made him a pandemic TV darling in New Zealand... Playing the whole song on the radio unbleeped in the U.S. might well result in an FCC fine. It contains some strong language about the importance of getting vaccinated and frankly debunks misinformation about vaccine side effects in men...“We have I guess, different standards when it comes to some of the language.”

I feel blessed not to have heard about any side effects that involve penises or testicles, which it sounds like what this is. Sheesh.

But yeah, even that's such a Minnesotan way of putting it: "I guess we have different standards." Cracks me up.

p.s. as an Australian I watched the video

and went "strong language??? there ISN'T any strong language!!!"

and then I rewatched the video and went "I guess they mean [Delta will keep your dick soft] and [fucking dumb] But that's not strong language..."

Yeah, that's absolutely what they mean, that is stuff you can't say on the radio in the U.S. :)

That sounds like local interest trying to cover something that's pretty far away, and realizing that broadcast standards in other places are different enough that you have to be careful how you cover it.
