It seemed very unfair to have to go back to work already, after how hard yesterday was on me, but today was not only my regular work day but a special challenge of its own: I had to get L to his GP for an actual in-person appointment. Which meant wrangling taxis (though the drivers both ways were happy to let me (dis)assemble his wheelchair and pack it into the trunk of the car myself! a rare treat!) and in general not being able to get away with being late to work even though Gary was clingy and I was exhausted from insomnia -- I'd been awake since four this morning.
I was blessed with nice weather by the time I finished, and the even nicer treat of not actually having to walk back from work because
diffrentcolours had just taken
mother_bones to an in-person appointment of her own and was nearby enough to grab me on the way home. We all spent some time in the garden, enjoying the first Really Quite Nice weather of the season, along with a Gary who was very excited to have so many humans return all at once (he's not used to being left on his own any more!) and to be wriggling around in the grass.
I felt dreadful though so I had one of those naps that's less a cozy rest and more a "my body has stopped functioning" kind of thing, woke up at 6:30 discombobulated by the sunlight streaming in my window (I have a bedroom that gets afternoon sun! it's so exciting). I made dinner (fresh filled pasta and salad, takes five minutes), we had a Kahuna beer (passionfruit! weird with all the hops, but still good) from the Beartown stash, and
mother_bones made chocolate cake so we ate that with cream! Today is definitely ending better than it began.
