[59/365] still staring out the window waiting for spring

A few days ago, my friend Amelia on Mastodon mentioned plans to watch some "inconsequential baseball" when spring training games started today so I was looking forward to that too.

But when I looked at the MLB app this afternoon, it wasn't showing me anything between September and April. I thought maybe it was broken or something but, poking around reading about the Twins, I saw on their spring training FAQ

How can I watch/listen/follow Spring Training games?

The Twins have not yet announced any radio or television broadcast plans for Spring Training games.

Well that's no goddam run. I don't know if it's a pandemic precaution (unlikely in Florida where there aren't any, and anyway commentary can be done from a distance) or what but it sucks that they don't even give an explanation or a nod to the fact that people might be disappointed by this. Just "The Twins have no plans yet to do this normal thing they normally do." Hmph.

Oh damnit, I wish I'd seen this earlier.

I was listening to the Red Sox / Twins game earlier today and thinking that you were listening too, so I'm now sad that you weren't.

Also, I did have a choice of radio station between WEEI and WCCO, so hopefully you should be able to listen from now on.

Hm, maybe it was different for me because I only have access through the app (I didn't save the password you gave me last year, I have just been using it on my phone but maybe that limits some things?).

I was able to get a Minnesota broadcast for yesterday's game! But nothing until then.

Well, that's no fun. Getting baseball going is one of the things that really reminds us that there is a change in the seasons coming.
