[45/365] French toast
Feb. 14th, 2021 09:58 pmAs part of Plan Make the Weekends Different, I talked Friday night about making pancakes for breakfast because it's nearly Pancake Day.
But we don't have flour so I thought (what I often think about making pancakes from scratch just because I'm lazy af) I could make French toast.
I stayed in bed too long yesterday, so I did it this morning. I ate mine and planned enough bread and batter that I can make for the
mother_bones and
diffrentcolours when they got up, if they want.
Soda bread makes such good French toast! This time I made it Americanly, with a little cinnamon and ginger in the batter. I really splashed out for me and make fried eggs and halloumi to go with it, which is what I always order at the café where, when there's not a pandemic, I help organize a social meet-up for bisexuals. So normally one Sunday a month (it'd be next Sunday, actually) this is what I eat for breakfast and it's so delicious I make it for myself occasionally now.
I sat on the sofa after I'd eaten and cleaned up, feeling so damn accomplished. "This may be all I do today," I told myself, and it pretty much was.
diffrentcolours said, as we were walking Gary this evening, said "it's a good thing we fit a whole bunch of weekend stuff into yesterday," and it was good because this is practically the first conversation we'd had all day; he'd spent it in bed with a migraine. I spent the afternoon downstairs trying not to fall asleep. So I'm glad I appreciated this morning at the time.
