I've been having the worst time sleeping for the last week or so. I usually have sleep maintenence insomnia and not the regular kind of "can't fall asleep" insomnia, but the classic version has been plaguing me. I can't even fall asleep for naps and usually I love naps.

It's been really frustrating and work was hard yesterday because of it (also because I had to do two things of the type where even one of them would leave me thinking "ugh that's a tough day at work").

For the previous few days, I'd noticed myself getting really very sleepy at like 8pm, but like a good chronic insomniac I'd ignored that and pushed through until a more "normal" healthy bedtime for me...and after 9pm I felt totally unable to sleep again and I'd be up until 1 or 2 in the morning.

So last night, when it got to be 8 o'clock I was like y'know what, I've done everything I need to do today, I'm just going to bed. I got myself ready and was probably asleep by 8:30. It did mean I woke up pretty early this morning but I still had a good amount of sleep and I was fine with that. I'm hoping a night of decent sleep will help my brain remember how to do that now.

It was a good thing too; I ended up having a stressful day with trying to organize a bunch of stuff and Gary being a little more sick than his usual "swamp dragon" bouts of poor digestion. He's much more himself this evening, hopefully he and I will both sleep well now and feel better tomorrow.

I hope that early bedtime helps and continues to encourage better sleep.

Poor Gary. Poor you - Swamp Dragon sounds like very bad smells.
