I woke up to the kind of sounds that I couldn't immediately tell whether they were rain falling or cars hydroplaning, but which either way made me very glad it's yesterday and tomorrow I'm going to work and not today.

I didn't do much else either, though. Well I did fold and put away the three loads of laundry I did yesterday in a desperate attempt to make up for the fact that the dehumidifier so necessary to drying our clothes had given up the ghost over the weekend, leaving my "oh I have no clean pants" situation of Wednesday somewhat more dire because the clothes I'd washed then still weren't dry yesterday. The weather was obligingly warm and dry enough yesterday that I was only limited by my inadequate clothespins and clothesiine, and I got (almost) everything dry but it was a lot of work.

The new dehumidifier arrived today, so I lugged it downstairs and got it going. That is the least fun way I've found lately to spend a lot of money but it was stressing me out not having it so I guess that's worth it.

I did a job application this evening (with a lot of help from Andrew, yay) but when the email bounced back it was too close to bedtime to figure it out so I guess I won't have actually applied until tomorrow when I do that but it feels good to have all the real work done at least.

Dehumidifiers are absolutely essential here in the brisk midwest -- I don't want to think how muggy things would get without them in the home country of lawns.

Bouncing emails are not allowed! Bad email, no biscuit.

I hate my dehumidifier too, and I'm very sorry that you have to use one in August.

Sigh. We have a mystery hole somewhere in the roof that lets in the damp - it'll be making its presence felt again soon!
