I'm too tired for a proper entry today, I thought, which was followed by the same thought it always is: so let's see what today's question is.

8. How much do you “bring work home”? Do you work at home after work hours, or do you leave it at the office?

Ahahaha. This is why I'm so tired today. My job involves things like grocery shopping, making tea/snacks/meals, doing laundry, changing bedding, tidying up, making phone calls, all that kind of thing.

And then I literally go home and have to do it all again. Sometimes it's really hard to face a sinkful of dirty dishes in your kitchen when you've just done dishes in someone else's, or make a meal for them knowing you'll have to walk home for almost an hour and then make your own dinner. Sometimes I help someone shower on a day when I haven't been able to shower myself. I do feel like I barely have enough executive function for myself, much less Andrew at home and people at work, but that's the nature of the work.

So no I don't take my work home in the traditional sense, but my work is already at home waiting for me to do more of it here.

I've worked at home on multiple fronts for the past 26 years. Stay-at-home parent for 3 kids who each have their own set of challenges dealing with neurotypical expectations. Started sewing business at home, because of unpredictability of when I'd have time, energy, focus and childcare to make it possible to leave the house. Did in-home child care when the kids were small. Took jobs in child care and in home health care, while caring for my kids. Took care of my mother when she had ALS for 5+ years, while caring for my kids. Now, I get paid as professional caregiver for the two of my children who are young adults and still live at home. I'm on call 24/7. I try to take time off. I took a week to go stay with cousins in California this past winter. But if I'm home, there is always work available, waiting to be done.

Woof. Sorry that the same work waits when the work gets done.
