[personal profile] diffrentcolours first suggested we go to Sanskruti when I'd finally finished my difficult and stressful second year of uni, in May. He'd been and thought I'd like it and it sounded interesting. But when the day came, he said it was my choice whether we went out or just ordered the food to be delivered. Going out made it feel more like a special occasion, but I was so cozy and maybe still a little too tired to be around people, so I said let's get takeaway.

This began an unbroken string of getting takeaway from there. I've developed a regular order: tandoori mushrooms Amritsari (just a delicious combination of spices in marinade and breading), kaju masala (cashew curry! it was a revelation for me that cashews can be the centerpiece of a meal and I absolutely adore them), and garlic naan (their bread is always so fresh and the garlic naan is very garlicky).

Anyway, the unbroken takeaway streak was broken tonight! I got the same thing I always get these days (sometimes I get chili paneer as a starter, sometimes I get different naan, but that's about it) but the mushrooms which are merely delicious in their takeaway box are gorgeous too when they're plated up in the restaurant! They were carefully arranged, and decorated with colorful sauces (I couldn't tell what anything was; everything was delicious) in a design that reminded me of a shooting star sort of pattern. A proper "I don't want to mess this up by eating it" moment, but of course I wanted my mushrooms so I devoured them.

It's a tiny restaurant so takeaway is probably still more practical a lot of the time. But I'm really glad I finally got to eat there!

Apparently they have a restaurant in Liverpool now too, so if you're in either place I'd really recommend the food, everything I've had has been amazing.

That all sounds delicious. I've been craving good garlic naan.
