[299/365] meme from softfruit
Oct. 26th, 2019 10:45 am1. Do you like bleu cheese?
I genuinely don't think I've ever had a kind of cheese I didn't like. But I do have some I love and blue cheeses definitely are high on that list, yum.
2. Coke or Pepsi?
They're both evil and bad but so tasty. I slightly prefer Coke maybe but I really don't care, I love fizzy drinks. As long as there's sugar in them.
3. Do you own a gun?
I've never even touched a gun. Ugh.
4. Whiskey, Tequila, Vodka?
Whiskey. Tequila is the only spirit I really don't like. Vodka is just above that in the list though: I've probably had some nice cocktails that contained it but it's not something I go out of my way for.
5. Hot dogs or Cheeseburgers?
I like either (as long as they're veggie of course) about as much as the other.
6. Favorite Type Of Food?
Mexican or nearest approximation.
7. Do you believe in ghosts?
No. I love a good ghost story but I don't believe in ghosts.
8. What do you drink in the morning?
It depends? Usually water. Sometimes not anything.
9. Can you do 100 Pushups?
I haven't for a while but I'm sure I could. Maybe with rest breaks. It doesn't say in the question that I can't have rest breaks!
10. Spring, Summer, Winter or Fall?
Summer. Fuck I miss summer.
11. Favorite hobby?
Sleeping?
12. Tattoos?
I don't have any. I still think about getting one, for my brother, some day. Maybe one day I will.
13. Do you wear glasses?
Oh yes. Unless I'm reading or doing other close-up work; they're counterproductive for that.
14. Phobia?
I don't think I have any irrational fears; mine are all very rational -- or so my anxious brain tells me.
15. Nickname?
A couple of people are allowed to call me Hols.
16. Three drinks you drink?
Water, tea, beer.
17. Biggest downfall:
Procrastination.
18. Rain or Snow?
I'm not saying snow unless I get to live somewhere where people know how to live with snow -- there's infrastructures to clear it, and so on. And I'm not saying rain if it's this terrible, pervasive, always-have-an-umbrella-in-my-bag kind of rain I'm used to here. Someone once told me that Liverpool gets more inches of rain than Manchester, but Manchester has more days where it rains. I'd rather have more rain than more rainy days.
19. Piercings?
Just my ears. Wrote about that recently.
20. Age?
37
21. Taken or Single?
...no.
22. Will 5 Friends Do This And Tag you?
So this is clearly stolen from a less civilized form of social media than DW, where tagging doesn't work like that?
23. Kids?
I generally love kids and I love not having kids of my own.
24. Favorite color?
Green.
25. Employed?
I work as a personal assistant to a disabled person.
26. Can you whistle?
Nope. This used to really bug me as a kid.
27. Where were you born?
Minnesota, but more specific than that I really cannot be.
28. Brothers or sisters?
My brother died in a car accident on the early hours of Thanksgiving day in 2005. He was 21. His name is Chris.
29. Ever Been Arrested?
No.
30. Surgeries?
No.
31. Religion?
I was raised Catholic, had a brief phase of evangelical fervor in my late teens, but have not been religious since I was 19 or 20.
32. Shower or Bath?
Shower.
33. Like to gamble?
No.
34. Are you loyal?
I think so?
35. Broken bones?
I broke a bone in my foot when I was 18 and my arm when I was 2 (I don't remember that but apparently I fell out of my crib because I was trying to escape, so determined was I not to have a nap).
36. How many tv's in your house?
Zero.
37. Worst pain ever?
Probably period- or migraine-related.
38. Do you like to dance?
I am too self conscious to like it.
39. Are your parents still alive?
Yes.
40. Do you like camping?
I've only been a couple times but I loved it.

Date: 2019-10-26 09:50 pm (UTC)I honestly think it happened because when I was in high school the only people that'd be friends with me were other weird people, and that included a couple of fairly keen Christians -- I know the stereotype is that everyone in the U.S. is, but while going to church is common in the rural Midwest, making a big deal of it (or anything) is not. And it was easy for the narratives -- shared experience of a higher power, of something bigger than myself yet with a good plan for my life, personally -- to appeal to me.
My belief drained away sometime in college, I'm not exactly sure why except I was learning enough European history to see how convenient for earthly powers and how relatively recent some of the things I'd been taught as literally divine and immutable were.
When my brother died I worried that I'd be particularly upset to be an atheist now, that it'd be too much to think about without the solace of an afterlife and a reunion one day. But it never bothered me, which I was grateful for; I had plenty else to struggle with.
