I had about six hours of sleep. We were at the fair by 7:30 this morning. I
- ate cheese curds
- took lots of pictures (some of which are on Facebook now for those who know me there)
- got a temporary tattoo of Gitchigami (as I was delighted to see it called in the exhibit, though it was more often called Lake Superior)
- talked excitedly to people from the University of Minnesota's German, Scandinavian and Dutch languages department
- saw people wearing Minnesotan t-shirts I loved (most especially one that looked like it said "COLD°F" but upon closer inspection the degree symbol was a little lowercase "a" so the shirt really said "cold af")
- really wanted to buy a t-shirt that said "march & rally & knock & call & vote DFL" from the DFL (Minnesota Democratic party) stall but couldn't

Date: 2019-09-01 08:39 am (UTC)Because of the $ cost?
Because your parents would have given you grief?
Because no room in your suitcase?
Because they won't sell them to people who aren't party members?
Because they didn't have them in your size?

It's a lot for a t-shirt but this is clearly a fundraiser and it's a cause I'm happy to give a bit of money to. And I think they should've had sizes that fit me, but I didn't get far enough to check.
My parents might've given me grief, that's another thing I didn't want to check. I think not if I'd gotten the "march &..." one, but maybe if I got the one next to it which I was also considering, which had a whole list of things on it "families belong together," "no human is illegal" etc) because it also included "black lives matter" and, at least the last time we talked about it a couple years ago, my parents just Did Not understand BLM at all. (The t-shirt also included a couple other things that go against my parents' beliefs -- "women's rights are human rights" and "love is love" but I don't think they would recognize these as being pro-reproductive rights and pro-same-sex marriage.)
