Hello, the UK prime minister has suspended parliament so he can ruin the country by leaving the EU with absolutely no plan (which means shortages of food, fuel and medicine among other things I'm not letting myself read about), and the U.S. president is already colluding with Russians about the next election and has refused to appoint people to the Federal Election Commission to such an extent that it can no longer enforce the law.

Since 2016 I've been saying the country I'm from and the country I'm in are in a race to see who can be Worst Country and it has shredded my mental health. Today is an especially bad day but it isn't be first and I know it won't be the last.

I'm so sorry. I wish I could put both Trump and Boris on a tiny totally unpopulated island with plenty of food and water, but no way off the island and no way to communicate with the outside world. And then not tell anyone where the island was.

Even Thatcher, hellish nightmare that she was, would not have allowed Brexit.

Thatcher hated poor people, LGBTQ people, people of colour, working class people, trade unions... but she cared A LOT about the economy.

She would have looked at what Brexit would do to the British economy and gone "You want to do WHAT?"

...I never thought a Prime Minister could be WORSE than Thatcher. How is that even possible?

Kinda how I feel about our US President. When George W. Bush was elected, I thought that it wasn't possible that we could have a president I'd disagree with more, on everything. Oh, how innocent that outrage seems in retrospect.

It is a prescient example of the concept of the race to the bottom.

One small good thing from this is that it's throwing out into the light just how little real progress has been made in the important things. Whomever inherits at least gets a clear picture of what they're being given.

Yeah. I'd pile on with all the related crap I'm worried about, but that would be, uh, less than constructive. My mental health is right there with yours.
