Sometimes I forget I live on a small island. I never go to the seaside -- or when I do, it's somewhere like Brighton or Llandudno where yes you can go on the pier and buy an ice cream, but it's not a beach exactly.

So I was delighted and surprised when today [personal profile] diffrentcolours asked if I fancied a road trip to the coast with him and [personal profile] mother_bones. Of course I did.

We ended up going to Crosby, with the Anthony Gormley statues. And now there are pictures of me standing next to one of them half-buried in the sand, and of me wading at the edge of the incoming tide, eating an ice cream with a Flake in it, listening to happy playing kids, admiring many excited small dogs, and generally enjoying the weather (high 80s today edges on too hot even for me, though it's still blessedly lacking in the humidity I'm used to at these kinds of temperatures) and the company.

Came back to theirs to help [personal profile] mother_bones water plants and to sit in the gazebo as the light drained out of the sky. What a nice summer day.
