I voted for Jo Swinson in the Lib Dems' leadership election, and I'm very happy she won.

This morning I was talking to someone bemoaning that tomorrow the Tories will make Boris Johnson PM (barring enough defections or him losing a vote of no confidence because half of his own party hates him, yes I know). I nodded and said I couldn't do anything about that but that the Lib Dems were about to elect a leader that TERFs hate. There are many good things about her, but this is the one that I thought would be most likely to cheer him up. It seemed to: "Good," he said.

She won't be Prime Minister tomorrow but her speech makes it clear she's not ruling it out!

Hell of a thing to hear the first speech from the new leader of the Lib Dems to reference a freshman representative from Minnesota. I'm not used to my political worlds colliding this way!

I doubt she'll be prime minister this side of Hallowe'en.

Hmmm... make it Bi Vis Day.

We thought Jo was brilliant - forthright, clear and insisting on defining and controlling the battleground.

That's good to know! My local MP is Tom Brake and we always vote for him to keep the Tories away, so I seem to have become a Lib Dem by accident.
