"I like your card," the guy said when I handed over my credit card a week or two ago to pay for my new phone. This has happened to me before, a few times, but it never ceases to confuse me.

The credit card has a picture of a gorilla on it.

Andrew chose it, needless to say. He calls it his "monkey card." Andrew likes monkeys. A lot.

The guy in the comic shop was actually disappointed that I used my boring green bank card rather than the credit card when I was there a couple of weeks ago. "What, no monkey card?" he said.

Andrew insists he didn't call it that in front of this guy, that they both came up with that name for it independently. "It's the obvious thing to call it!" he said. But then he would say that.

Andrew has just informed me that the credit card he's getting from his bank lets you put any picture you want on it. Anything on the whole internet!

I groaned. "Do they both have to have the same picture?" This is how I ended up with a monkey card. It's not what I would've chosen, but it's the same account.

"When you get a credit rating and get your own credit cards, then you can choose," Andrew declared gleefully.

I sighed. No surprise there then. "But you'll pick something stupid!" I moaned. I'm dubious about this anyway, though. What if it's a copyrighted image? Or a Nike trademark or something. What if it's something usually deemed obscene or offensive, like a picture of Mohammed? Or a naked lady?

Ooh, hey... "How 'bout a naked lady?" I suggested. I know it's pointless; I know I'm married to the only straight man in the world who's only interested in one lady, naked or otherwise. Still, I have to try!

"No, you'll pick something like Superman or something," I lamented, immediately wishing I hadn't said anything because Superman is just the sort of thing Andrew would choose, and I don't want Superman in my wallet.

I'm watching Life on Earth, so I want a picture of a jellyfish.
