This is about what my mom is like. And it's now starting to extend to my kids, too. My husband spent a lot of time coming up with present recommendations for the kids and my mom ignored all of them and bought random stuff. He said next year he's not sending her any recommendations and he's going to tell her exactly why.
She believes in getting presents for kids that are things she thinks they should have/like, rather than things they actually want.
