[150/365] accomplishments

30. What is something that never fails to make you feel accomplished?

This is such a good question! Lots of things I associate with feeling accomplished but are there any I would say I never fail at feeling accomplished about? Lots of things often seem like they should be accomplishments but I don't feel accomplished about them, probably because I have depression so the part of my brain that makes me feel good about things that I want to feel good about is broken.

Like today: I took the dog for a reasonably long walk in the sunshine, I helped [personal profile] mother_bones in the garden by planting stuff, I visited Stuart and helped him tidy and move furniture and things. These things involve helping other people (Gary counts as people!) and that is where I would lot often look for a reliable feeling of accomplishment: things I do for others. Today was my one-day weekend and I am content with how I spent it. But do I feel accomplished?

Not really? The dog walk doesn't seem like a big deal because it's something I do every day; the weather made me feel it so nice today but I can hardly count that as an accomplishment. Helping in the garden only took a few minutes. Helping Stuart took longer but still isn't done so it's less likely to feel like an accomplishment even though he said himself that a lot of progress was made and he's happy with it. You see how easy it is for me to dismiss my accomplishments.

I'll be on the lookout for anything that never fails to make me feel accomplished. I know I'm overthinking a silly meme but I also think it's good for me to think about this stuff.

I wish you could see the value in the things you do accomplish each and every day. Just because they are routine, doesn't mean they are not accomplishments.
