[145/365] Glorious

I do think it's funny that too such similar sets of nerds have a Day oh the same day.

I've seen a few friends declare that they know where their towel is. I like Douglas Adams fine, but I just read [personal profile] innerbrat's Facebook status that's just "All the little angels rise up, rise up, all the little angels rise up high" and I've got goosebumps now. That's what the 25th of May is, for me.

Didn't Terry make it 25th May on purpose? He certainly used to wear a towel on the relevant day. I was once flyering a signing for a Discworld Convention on 25th May, and he was wearing the towel and kindly greeting the half-dozen other nerds who were similarly doing so. Meanwhile I was kicking myself for having forgotten.

I think it's certainly possible that he did so, but I wonder if he had the lead time to do that. Night Watch came out in late 2002, and the first Towel Day was obviously in 2001, and I don't know what the lag between submitting the book and publication would have been back then. It certainly wouldn't surprise me if it was deliberate though.

Glorious revolutions are a thing to celebrate. Our at least remember.
