I'd rather be the one giving the speech than the paragraph in the brochure about it

I have to write a bio to advertise a keynote speech I've agreed to deliver later in the summer.

I'm finding that coming up with more than one sentence to describe myself/my job is probably a lot harder than the speech will be itself!

Draft the speech in outline and the bio will write itself

Don't have time for that before the bio has to be written, sadly.

But I managed it. This poor person has had to chase me so many times that I was determined not to turn off my computer today until I'd sent him something. It's not great but it's done!

It’s hard to “elevator pitch” yourself! I feel like I go through this every time I look at my resume. Like, who is it that I really am in the working world?

Trick is to get a group of colleagues to contribute suggested ideas.

Or describe yourself as an excessive tea drinker which is my usual trick.

Yeah I used to mention that I had a dog. He was a good icebreaker topic. :)

Yeah it's so easy to get existential! And my work can either be described in a single sentence or a long conversation, there doesn't send to be much in-between.

Yep, one of the biggest things I learned in volunteering done is better than perfect!

It is hard to blurb yourself. I tend in the direction of slightly ridiculous because that way I get to make the joke about me, but that doesn't always work for everyone.
