There's been something of a revival of women's Test cricket in the last few years driven by the "new" (ie eight years old) format of the Ashes.
One Test, three ODIs, three T20s, four points for winning the Test, two for winning an ODI or a T20.
Other series have started copying the format, which means that series that had been one-day-only now have a single Test; The recent women's Test in India (last year? 2013?) was the first in that country in ages.
Of course there is no women's IPL, so there's no great money in women's cricket to fight over. I suspect that the governance is no better, but less corrupt simply because of the lack of money.
